A Photo A Day 26: Dots

Dots are fun. They're a fun pattern. They're on some of my socks. I'm not sure why they're an October photo of the day, but no matter. These dots below are some dots that may or may not gross you out. It all depends on your take of the relationship between oil and water. Now we all know that oil and water do not mix. They don't particularly enjoy each other's company. That means they can create some pretty cool photos. This photo features dots of oil floating in water. If we want to get technical, it's actually bacon grease, but whatever. It acts about the same. So if you don't mind fatty fat floating in water then you won't mind this photo.

Commissioned Photographs

Here are 16 photos I took for the commission I received. I have edited them to meet the client's green/red/yellow color scheme, so that's why you might notice the coloring is a bit abnormal. These are the top 16; the client and my boss will decide on the final 8 later. I took lots of other photos while in Palouse, but I won't share them with you just yet. I have to keep you coming back to my blog somehow, so don't be too angry.

A Photo A Day 25: Something You Made

Though I suspect it really means something I made. I have made lots of things. I'm all artsy fartsy like that. I even come up with projects for myself when I'm bored. This is one of those. I draw buildings on post-it notes at work sometimes when there is absolutely nothing else to do. That gave me the idea to draw on post-it notes a different famous or cool buildings from around the world. This is the result. Don't worry, I didn't work on this project at work. It required too much time for that. It's a 12" x 12" scrapbook sheet laid out with buildings you may or may not recognize. How many can you name?

A Photo A Day 24: Pretty

My family is pretty. I have a pretty family. I am also pretty...good at taking selfies. Check this one out! I know, I know...I don't enjoy a lot of silly mainstream trends...namely instagram...but I took this one years before the fad caught on, and it also includes the 5 other people in my immediate family. That means I'm really good at taking selfies. 'Cause I can get 6 people in the shot. Plus a mountain. That's right, there's a mountain. This was taken on the salt flats in Death Valley, CA because we're awesome like that. We've been to a lot of national parks, and so far at the age of one month shy of 24 (almost to the day...tomorrow will be 'the day') I have visited 34 of the 50 states. That's more than half for those of you keeping up at home. I hope to visit all of them before I die. That's huge on my bucket list...the only one I super super care about. I'm coming along nicely. Welp, here's my pretty family.

Commission

I have some super fabulous news that I couldn't wait to tell you. I have been asked to take photos for a client of my boss. That's right, I have a photography commission! I'm driving out tomorrow (during work...FIELD TRIP!) to take pictures of the beautiful Palouse scenery. If you don't know Palouse, Google it. It's about two hours south of Spokane. I've been wanting to get out there for a while, but it's a far drive and Tim and I hardly have a day off together. So I'm going solo. I'm so excited! My boss said one of his clients wants to hang the work of a local artist in her house, and he decided I am capable. I so am. Anyway, just thought I'd share the news. Here's a photo of my 35mm camera that I got for $5 at a garage sale. I'll upload those photos soon if the film actually develops.

A Photo A Day 23: Busy

For "busy" I'm sharing a picture of my sister using a handheld rotary saw. Is that the right name for it? I think that's the right name for it. You know, it's kind of ironic...as I'm writing this post I'm busy. I'm busy watching the Mission Impossible episode of Mythbusters. It's a good one. Anyway, this picture is from when we helped our parents build a shed on their property. That was scary. We sat atop 10' tall 2x4 framing and held crossbeams in place...in the wind. Yikes! I liked the saws better. Framing would have been alright if not for the wind and the heavy crossbeams.

A Photo A Day 22: Grass

Grass? Well, okay. This grass is kinda sparse, but that's because digging was involved in order to plant an arbor privacy wall. Those feet belong to my brother-in-law. At least I think that's what I call him when I'm talking about how we're related. He's married to my sister-in-law. My sister-in-law being my husband's sister. Is he considered my brother-in-law? I don't know. I don't know all that technical relational stuff. In any case, here is grass. Grass is green. It's greener on the other side. Or so I'm told.
