At work we took in a camera that needed testing to see if it would work. You see, it's easy to test a digital camera-you can immediately see the results. The EOS 1 is a 35mm camera, so we have to make sure it doesn't either under or overexpose the film. I grabbed an 85mm 1.2 lens, meaning the depth of field is super shallow. 1.2 isn't an aperture that's available on most lenses. Well, the film was underexposed, but I got to keep the film. I don't have a great scanner for film. It does well with images, but there isn't a separate scanning setting for film. I made do. I started it before I left for work and scanned at the highest resolution possible...something around 7000 or something. It took a few hours but I was able to scan the film well enough to edit full-sized images. I edited them a bit in photoshop to get them back to normal coloring. They're terrible quality, but I actually like the results. It's art!

Alpental/Central Night Skiing
We went skiing last night. It was kinda crappy, but hey. Skiing is skiing. It's better than not skiing. Also, Timmy bought me a cool backpack with a hard shell (first picture below). That means I can take my camera on the slopes! We went skiing at night without a tripod, so sorry about some of the blurriness. It's hard to take pictures even with a backpack as a stand.

First Ski Day of '13-'14 Season
Yeah, I know. Sad, isn't it? My first ski day of the season wasn't until midway through January. That's not my fault though. The ski areas in western Washington haven't gotten much snow. We still saw a bunch of branches sticking out, but we did alright. Tomorrow we get to go again! Yay! I took some pretty pictures and had some fun editing them on my iPhone. I added brightness and contrast, warmth, purples, an Orton effect (explained earlier in my blog), and increased the vibrance.

Alpental
Tim and I went to explore Alpental, a peak near Snoqualmie Pass where there's skiing in the winter. Well, not this winter. It still hasn't gotten enough snow yet, which is a huge bummer because I have been itching to go skiing ever since last season ended. I want to get good! Well, we explored up there anyway. I brought my camera and my new 50mm macro lens. That's right, I have a macro lens now! I'll do a full post about it later, if I ever have time. I've been busy with this thing called work so I've been using my down time to hang out with my hubby and our friends rather than post for y'all. Sorry guys. Well, here are some cool winter shots taken with that wonderful lens.
Wild Waves
You know what's fun? Theme parks. You know what else is fun? Lights. What is fantastically awesome? A theme park lit up for Christmas. Tim's and my friend has an uncle who owns the land on which a theme park sits. Read that three times through and catch up when you understand it. Our friend got us free tickets to the theme park, so six of us total checked it out together. Half of us (3 for those of you who haven't caught up yet) did that awesome cable swing where they pull you back 50 feet high in the air and let you drop. It is terrifying and amazing all at the same time. Everywhere we went I stopped to take a few pictures and ended up playing catch-up most of the time. You'll thank me for that. Oh, and Happy 2014!
