Triptychs

Triptychs are a way of displaying artwork that includes three panels with a different work on each. Get ready, 'cause here comes another lesson on word origins. The word "triptych" comes from Greek routes with "tri" meaning "three" and "ptysso" meaning "to fold." Early Christian art was displayed this way, and it has continued on through to our time. Triptychs oftentimes tell stories, but sometimes there are simply three related photos. Sometimes it's even one photo sliced into three parts. They are displayed on many different materials in many different mediums. Mine are all photographs (since this is a photography blog), and they're all oriented vertically.
