Mom and Dad Visit: Manito Park

On the way home from our hike in the Iller Creek Conservation we took a detour to Manito Park. This park is a beautiful place on Spokane's South Hill. It was originally landscaped in 1913 by the Olmsted Brothers, a famous sibling landscaping team with works throughout the US and Canada. If you want to know more, pull up the trusty Wikipedia page here. Now, the grounds are always beautiful. The Japanese garden has foliage year round, and one or two gardens bloom at any given time. However, not all were in bloom during our visit. We hardly stayed in the rose garden because the plants were pruned way back and no flowers were growing. The English style flower garden had just been planted and they were still small. The greenhouse closed literally as we walked up to the door. Oh well. I will get good pictures of those gardens eventually. For now, enjoy these beauties.
