View Master

We all remember View Masters. At least...I hope we do...do they let kids play with them these days? In any case, I remember them. I was fascinated by them actually. You look into those little binocular-like eyes and see a 3D image, switch to the next image with a lever, and go through tons of slides for ten minutes of fun before you get bored and move on to that pogo stick you just got or the pogs from today's cereal box. My camera has an app that is called Viewfinder, probably because View Master is under a copyright or trademark or something fancy like that. It mimics the appearance of the pictures from one of those thousands of slides. Now they don't appear 3D because you can't trick the eye in the same way using a computer (using duplicate images side-by-side), but they do look retro and antique or whatever the kids are calling it these days. Probably something along the lines of decrepit.
